Overview The Intercompany Accountant is a key role that manages all intercompany transactions within the company, between Champion Petfoods entities and between Champion Petfoods and their parent company, Mars Inc. This role will oversee all transfer pricing between legal entities and execute the indicated adjustments based on Mars guidelines and Champions model. The successful candidate will be a finance professional who will act as an intercompany expert dedicated to the General Accounting Team within the Finance department. The Intercompany Accountant is based out of our Edmonton corporate office and reports to the Corporate Controller. What a typical day looks like Oversee all intercompany activities across multiple Champion Petfoods entities including intercompany with the Mars group. Record cross-charges from other Mars entities, ensuring accuracy and completeness, working with corresponding business partners to resolve inquiries and/or discrepancies. Manage the Mars intercompany settlement process full cycle (ICNetting platform) including multi currency impacts. Create the Champion price lists in the ERP for intercompany product sales, execute system updates and ensure proper controls. Be the point of contact in the organization for intercompany pricing. Have expertise on the ERPs intercompany processes including overseeing the multi currency requirements. Own and administer all transfer pricing charges between Champion entities, providing analysis and evaluating the transfer price models in collaboration with the Mars ICTC team. Reconcile intercompany accounts, and create manual invoices if required, collaborating with the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable teams. Maintain the records of all intercompany agreements and verify compliance with agreements. Provide supporting schedules to assist the tax team with corporate tax returns. Perform period-end reconciliation tasks to support the period-end close schedule. Support continuous improvement initiatives of the Finance department and other business units across Champion and Mars. Deliver diverse accounting and reporting activities in support of business activities. Demonstrate business acumen and partnership to the broader organization by asking questions, fostering continuous improvement and high-performance collaboration. Ensure compliance with Finance policies and procedures, and internal controls. Ensure the strict confidentiality and privacy of the Companys financial records. What we are looking for Bachelors degree and three years of experience in accounting or finance, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience. Knowledge of transfer pricing and intercompany settlement practices. Knowledge of accounting policies and frameworks; US GAAP experience is considered an asset. Strong organizational, time management and prioritizing skills, with accuracy and attention to detail under tight deadlines. Strong analytical skills with experience handling complex transactions. Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders across multiple entities. Knowledge of accounting systems, budgets, and internal controls. Self-directed, with integrity and professionalism; able to work independently and in a team. Ability to analyze financial reports for accuracy and prepare supporting schedules. Experience with ERP systems, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, and translating data into actionable information. Ability to handle confidential information related to monetary transactions and strategy.
