Overview Truck driver role at I-Way Transport inc. Location: Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada Responsibilities Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions Load and unload goods Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment Perform brake adjustments Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle Receive and relay information to central dispatch Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo Transport and handle dangerous goods Credentials AZ class license Experience and specialization Documentation knowledge Accident or incident reports Driver logbook Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip) Maintenance and repair reports Trip reports Type of trucking and equipment Tractor-trailer Communication systems experience Operate GPS and other navigation equipment Transportation/travel experience Long-haul National Provincial/territorial Regional Work conditions and physical capabilities Attention to detail Handling heavy loads Large workload Sitting Weight handling Up to 9 kg (20 lbs) Personal suitability Efficient interpersonal skills Flexibility Judgement Organized Reliability Team player Seniority level Entry level Employment type Full-time Job function Management and Manufacturing Industries Truck Transportation Additional information: On site work required.
