Job Description

Overview Building Mechanical Designer role at Jacobs. We are looking for three Building Mechanical Designers who will work on projects enabling municipal facilities with mechanical systems (plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection) for water and wastewater projects, and contribute to other municipal, industrial, and institutional projects. Youll be at the cutting edge of design and analytics to lead planning and design of mechanical systems, be accountable for schedule and technical quality, and provide on-site assistance during startup. You will coordinate with other staff and the discipline lead to deliver engineered systems for building HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Systems. Responsibilities Designing and drafting of plumbing, HVAC, and fire protection systems Preparing mechanical drawing deliverables as required Assisting with or carrying out preparation of deliverables and products such as load calculations, specifications, equipment selections, and cost estimates for HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems Coordinating with the design of other disciplines Performing field investigations to incorporate existing conditions into construction documents Drafting using CAD or 3D modeling software; preparing plans, sections, elevations, details, and construction documents Participating in the Quality Review process with the responsible Engineer and Lead Verifier Assisting with construction administration duties, such as shop drawing review, RFI response, construction inspection, and responding to client questions Working within a project team environment with effective communication Coordinating and helping establish design criteria in accordance with industry standards with Lead Engineers Reporting to Lead Engineer at the project level, and to discipline coordinator and discipline manager at the discipline level Qualifications Technical Diploma in Mechanical Systems Design with 5 years of experience, or High School Diploma with 7 years of experience, building mechanical systems Experience with a wide variety of HVAC systems, plumbing, fire protection, load calculations, and related building systems Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit Experience in multi-disciplinary projects in buildings and infrastructure Ability to read multi-disciplinary plans Self-starter with minimal supervision; strong verbal and written English skills; team player Familiarity with local provincial & National Building Code/Energy Code/Plumbing Code/Fire Code, ASHRAE, NFPA, and SMACNA Experience following and implementing Client CAD/BIM Standards Preferred Qualifications AScT, PTech, or CET designation Strong communication with internal teams and external stakeholders Experience in Revit modeling, Navisworks and BIM 360 for model coordination; Bentley MicroStation is an asset 8+ years of relevant Mechanical Design experience on institutional, commercial, or municipal buildings; experience with water and wastewater facilities is a plus Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Experience with HAP, McQuay Ductsizer, energy modeling tools (TRACE 700, eQuest, DOE-2) is a plus Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools Valid Driver's License Salary range (posted): CA$70,500.00 CA$123,400.00.
