Who we are: The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development (EECD) is seeking an individual to join the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Team as an Occupational Health and Safety Consultant to support the Anglophone East School District. This is an exciting opportunity in a challenging and rewarding field to work with a team of professionals dedicated to improving the culture of Occupational health and safety in the School District. What you will do: Reporting to the Security & Safety Manager at EECD, the Occupational Health and Safety Consultants role will focus on the successful implementation and maintenance of a compliant and sustainable school district Health and Safety Program. Assigned to the Anglophone East School District, the Consultant will provide the District with expert advice, OHS training, OHS quality control and quality assurance, and will implement best practices utilizing current research and tools to meet New Brunswick Occupational Health and Safety legislative requirements. Responsibilities: Liaise with WorkSafeNB for reporting requirements, work refusals, complaints, investigations, or orders. Monitor and ensure compliance with applicable health and safety legislation. Deliver training for school personnel on programs as required. Support the school district and provide guidance as a subject matter expert on occupational health and safety standards, risk assessment methodologies, and safety management systems. Provide direction to school personnel regarding clientspecific information, department process, policies, standards, etc. and other general items. Coordinate Health and Safety issue escalation process as required to support daytoday and projectcentric activities. Review and validate internal health and safety policies and protocols and work with stakeholders (external and/or internal department) to resolve issues when required. Provide advice on Occupational Health and Safety issues to employees, management team, contractors, and organizers of special events and conferences. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following: Need to have: Need to have: Bachelors degree in Occupational Health and Safety with minimum of five (5) years in OHS compliance and regulation OR a postsecondary diploma in an OHS Program with seven (7) years of experience. Possess or be willing to obtain the Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) OR Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) OR National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) designation. Proficient in Microsoft software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint). An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Written and spoken competence in English is required. Please state your language capability. Nice to have: Experience with a job hazard analysis, analysis of workplace accidents or Joint Health Safety Committee would be an asset. Experience with injury claim management or duty to accommodate would be an asset. Training in WHMIS, fall protection, confined space, lock out and accident investigation would be an asset. Experience with threat assessment, emergency procedure, conducting security inspection, investigation, implement security protocol or procedure, awareness / prevention program. Certified Train the Trainer on various OHS related topics would be an asset. Analytical Thinking/Judgement Client Service Orientation Effective Interactive Communication Relationship / Network Building Teamwork and Cooperation Knowledge of Health and Safety Procedures Presentation Skills Planning and Organizing Skills Operational requirements: Possession of a valid class 5 drivers licence as issued by the Province of New Brunswick is also required and own use of transportation. Travel within the province is required. Wage: Pay Band 4: $58,474 - $81,770 annually. Work environment: Standard hours of work: Monday Friday, 8:15am 4:30pm. We promote a scentreduced environment.
