Security Runner (Casual) School District No. 43 (Coquitlam) Overview Coquitlam School District invites applications for a Casual Security Runner. As the third largest school district in the province, located within a 40-minute drive from downtown Vancouver, the district serves about 34,000 students with approximately 4,500 teaching, administrative, managerial and support staff. The Security Runner reports to the Assistant Director of Operations/designate and provides districtwide security response services twentyfour hours including weekends and statutory holidays, performing routine assignments under minimal supervision. Successful applicants must be available for day, afternoon and night shifts. Responsibilities Respond to fire and security alarms at all school district locations Perform fire and flood watch Inspect closed sites for eating/lighting issues, vandalism, etc. Liaise with police, fire responders, security companies and building personnel Open and close school district buildings for authorized users Make emergency vandalism repairs to secure affected buildings (e.g., boarding broken windows, cleaning broken glass) Organize/maintain maintenance department storage areas and other spaces as directed Perform caretaking duties in emergency situations Assist in filling caretaking requisitions and in restocking supplies in district stores; assist with shipping and receiving Conduct annual inspections of emergency lighting Assist in testing building fire alarm and security systems Required Knowledge and Skills Grade 10 plus one year of experience in the Facilities department (Maintenance or Caretaking), or an equivalent combination of training and experience A valid BC Class 5 drivers license is required Compensation and Terms This is an oncall casual unionized position, offering $28.98 per hour plus 16% in lieu of benefits.
