Position Overview Performs perinatal ultrasounds up to sixteen weeks gestation and general ultrasounds. Demonstrates thorough understanding of ultrasound techniques, anatomy, and pathology, utilizing appropriate methods for optimal exams. Adheres to departmental policies to ensure examinations are optimized for interpretation. Provides accurate data, clinical history, and interpretation results for all exams. Completes ultrasound reports and patient charting accurately in the record-keeping system. Collaborates with physicians (Perinatologist, Radiologist, referring Physician) in reviewing ultrasounds. Sends images to PACS. Maintains equipment, exam rooms, and work areas in a safe, clean, and stocked condition. Troubleshoots equipment issues, reports failures, and performs routine maintenance and cleaning per manufacturer specifications. Follows infection control protocols and patient safety practices at all times. Minimum Requirements Education: Graduation from an accredited ultrasonography program, including general and perinatal procedures. ARRT (S) or RDMS Ob/Gyn, Abdomen, and/or Breast registries. Must obtain a second registry within 90 days of hire. Experience: Recent hospital experience as a general sonographer or recent graduate. Familiarity with ACR standard exams. Credentials: AHA BLS - Healthcare Provider. Skills: Excellent verbal communication, basic computer skills, and ability to perform perinatal testing. Work Hours: 8-hour shifts. Physical Demands & Work Environment Frequent demands include walking, pushing/pulling, bending, reaching, wrist movements, pinching/fine motor activities, and keyboard use. Occasional demands include sitting, climbing, carrying, twisting, overhead reaching, and squatting/kneeling/crawling. Continuous demands include standing, talking, or hearing. Lifting: 50 lbs. from floor to waist; 25 lbs. at waist level and above. Sensory requirements include near and far vision, color discrimination, depth perception, and hearing. Exposure risks involve bloodborne pathogens, airborne diseases, uneven surfaces, and dust. Offers are contingent upon successful onboarding and pre-employment physical.
