Dillons Planning and Design technical group is looking for an experienced Environmental Assessment (EA) Lead who will contribute to Dillons reputation as innovators in the EA space. The successful candidate will have opportunities to hold various leadership roles, including Project Manager, Environmental Manager, Environmental Director, Environmental Team Lead , Senior Environmental Planner and others. We are looking for demonstrated experience on large, complex projects delivering EAs, environmental permitting/approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring. Notable experience should include a leadership role delivering EAs for linear infrastructure such as pipelines, electric transmission lines, roads, highways, and transit. The ideal candidate will have experience with provincial EA legislation under Ontarios EA Act, including Individual/Comprehensive EAs, as well as Class EA processes (e.g., Municipal Class EA, Ministry of Transportation [MTO], Hydro One, Metrolinx/TPAP), Knowledge of federal EA legislation (e.g., Impact Assessment Act, Canada Energy Regulator Act, etc.) and ability to work with Indigenous communities would be an asset. You will be a member of Dillons national Environmental Planning group and will work closely with our in-house teams of engagement specialists, biologists, environmental scientists, land use and policy planners, and the full range of engineering disciplines located in offices across Canada. You will be a key part of our multidisciplinary group serving our diverse range of public and private sector clients. Responsibilities What your day will look like As a key team member, you will have the opportunity to: Project Delivery Manage/Lead projects for public and private sector clients related to EA, environmental permitting and approvals, and environmental compliance monitoring, with a focus on linear infrastructure EAs (Individual/Comprehensive EAs, Municipal Class EA, MTO, Hydro One, Metrolinx/TPAP) Manage/Lead federal EAs and work with Indigenous communities . Work with multi-disciplinary teams on exciting and challenging projects, with a focus on removing barriers and improving access on roads, highways, transit, and active transportation facilities Develop and lead key innovative EA consultation processes Play a key role in the growth and development of the team by empowering, inspiring and energizing the team through project experience Business Development Build client relationships through identification of market opportunities, client communications, preparation of proposals, and business development activities Ability to review and respond to RFPs and prepare project proposals Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Learning & Development Commit to self-development and ongoing learning and professional development Contribute to the career development of supporting staff, including technical direction, coaching, and mentoring Contribute to Dillons corporate profile through active participation in professional associations and committees Be coached and mentored by some of Canadas most well-respected leaders in Individual/Comprehensive EAs, MTO Class EAs, and Municipal Class EAs Qualifications What you will need to succeed A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology or a related field 10+ years EA experience, preferably in the consulting industry, with an emphasis on linear infrastructure (pipelines, electric transmission lines, roads, highways, transit) Strong communication, report writing, organization, interpersonal skills Valid Class G Drivers License Eligibility or full membership or candidate membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute is considered an asset Experience Ideally, your experience can demonstrate the following: Successful project delivery as a Project Manager or Environmental Lead for Individual/Comprehensive EAs, Class EAs (Municipal Class EA, MTO, TPAP, etc.) and/or federal EAs In-depth knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements Experience in the design and delivery of stakeholder and Indigenous Community engagement programs, including the use of innovative virtual engagement tools Experience in business development activities including client development and responding to RFPs Environmental management during construction, including developing environmental management plans, on-site monitoring and documentation is considered an asset We have a strong supportive and inclusive culture at Dillon and welcome these strengths and personal attributes: Highly motivated with a proven ability to take initiative Strong report writing, organization and interpersonal skills Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Committed to success through personal development and team advancement Passionate about innovative approaches to public and stakeholder engagement Desire to be a key member of a solution-oriented, multi-disciplinary team Ability to work independently Dillon offers competitive salaries, health benefits, flexible work arrangements and a generous retirement savings plan.
