Corrections Officer & Juvenile Counsellor Training Program - Southwest Region Update: Application intake is ongoing for 2025 - start here to begin your journey! Launch your career in corrections with the Corrections Officer & Juvenile Counsellor Training Program at Manitoba Justice, in partnership with Southwest Mtis Employment & Training (MET). This 8-week program equips Red River Mtis Citizens with the skills and certifications needed for rewarding roles in corrections, offering financial assistance and stipends to eligible participants. Program Highlights: Competitive Pay: $31.62 - $40.65 per hour Duration: 8 weeks, full-time (Monday to Friday) Locations: Winnipeg (year-round), Milner Ridge, Brandon, The Pas (as needed) Stipend: Provided during training for eligible participants 2025 Training Start Dates: Brandon Correctional Centre (BCC): Apr 14 - Jun 11 Manitoba Youth Centre (MYC): Apr 22 - Jun 17 Jun 18 - Aug 14 Jul 28 - Sept 23 Sept 3 - Oct 30 Nov 3 - Dec 31 Minimum Requirements: Unemployed or underemployed Red River Mtis Citizen from the Southwest Region , 18+ Pass Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Child & Adult Abuse Registry Checks Hold a full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's License Possess Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED Certificate Strong communication, problem-solving skills, and physical/mental readiness Commit to an employment & training action plan Conditions of Employment: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Checks) Satisfactory Enhanced Security Screening Level 4 Satisfactory Medical Fitness Report Full Class 5 (5F) Manitoba Driver's Licence Minimum of Standard (Intermediate) First Aid CPR-C & AED Certificate (two day course) The ability to work extended and flexible hours including shift work and short notice call-ins is required Qualifications: Effective interpersonal skills Experience working in a team environment Ability to manage stress Effective problem solving, decision making and sound judgment skills Ability to adapt to change Ability to interact with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds Post secondary education with directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience Commitment to continuous learning Experience working with Indigenous people and understanding of Indigenous culture/spirituality Contact Us: Start your career in corrections today and make a difference in your community! #J-18808-Ljbffr
