Schedule: 10/12 Hour Shifts, days/evenings/weekends (subject to change). Location: LH All Sites. Wage Schedule: $50.980 - $69.140 per hour. File Number: 2500002786. This position is supported through the Ontario Physician Assistant Career Start Program, which supports new graduates with full-time employment opportunities. Role alignment: integrated member of the health care team in the Emergency Department, focused on patient experience, learning, quality improvement, patient safety, and collaborative team-based care. The program supports mentorship, supervision, and ongoing career growth within Ontarios health-care system. Responsibilities Obtain health and social histories Conduct physical assessments and interpret findings Activate medical directives and complete preliminary interpretations of necessary diagnostic tests including ECGs, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging Perform procedures such as ECG, casting, suturing, application of orthopedic devices, slit lamp examination, measuring intraocular pressure, visual acuity Formulate treatment plans and support connections to consultants, allied health, outpatient clinics and other services as needed Document patient encounters Support physicians with health care technology and applications such as Connecting Ontario and hospital applications including the Clinical Information System, Order Set repository, and bedside ultrasound Demonstrate a strong desire for lifelong learning, quality improvement, patient safety and collaborative team-based care Qualifications 2025 Graduate of McMaster University and the Consortium of PA Education - the University of Toronto Registration in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario Current membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA) and/or NCCPA Certified or eligible for certification through the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or United States (NCCPA) required Graduate of MOHLTC-approved program including the Canadian Forces Physician Assistant Training Program, graduate of a Canadian or American PA training program, or trained international medical graduate Flexibility with superior organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion with confidential patient information Strong work ethic, professionalism and reliability with commitment to outstanding customer service Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills Exposure to Lean principles and commitment to using relevant tools to improve patient care Understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health safety programs and practices Commitment to the core values of Inclusion, Compassion, Innovation, Teamwork & Joy Conditions Of Employment The terms and conditions of employment are in accordance with Lakeridge Healths policies and procedures.
