Position Summary The Safety & Compliance Manager plays a pivotal role as a Subject Matter Expert, ensuring the seamless integration of safety, compliance, and training initiatives within British Columbia. This position requires a deep understanding of provincial regulations, Long Combination Vehicle programs, and a commitment to fostering a culture of safety and compliance. Location: Port Coquitlam, British Columbia Schedule: Monday to Friday. 40 hours What you will do Subject Matter Expert (SME) Develop a working partnership relationship with operations, not an adversarial relationship Provincial regulations for province(s) of responsibility Regional Long Combination Vehicle (LCV) program Orientation and Ongoing Training Hours of Service (HOS) Pre-Trip Chair, Accident Review Committee TDG Defensive Driving / Professional Driver Improvement Course (PDIC) OT1 ON DCP program lead Smart Drive Truckright Safety Manages the Incident Response Team (IRT) in the region Oversee a small team of 2 Track OO out of service and pulled plates events Co-ordinate Emergency Accident / Incident response and investigation Conduct intake interviews regarding accidents and incidents Identify accident causes using root cause analysis and provide recommendations for prevention Identify trends in accident causes and develop practices to reduce accident frequency Ensure the accident/incident database is maintained by the Safety and Compliance team Work with garage regarding incidents Haz-Mat spills dock & on road as part of IRT NSC review and follow up with unreported events SDP program for BC Audit Audit terminal compliance with regulations Schedule and conduct periodic safety blitzes at each operating location MSO program in region HOS audit logs against trip documents Communicate recurring issues to offenders, send warning letters as required Manage SpeedGauge reports and action accordingly Manage driver behavior using Radius/OT1 Manage driver behavior using Smart Drive Training Develop regional training programs Deliver training programs established by national team Oversee Orientation Ensure compliance with Safety and Compliance Policies and Procedures Deliver remedial training Road tests Responsible for Pro Trainer program regionally Initiate corrective action for non-compliance Admin Oversee 1 admin for CAR and ARC and NSC analysis Meet weekly with Operations to review top 3 issues of the week Assist drivers with applying for/renewing FAST cards for US drivers Review and ensure new hires meet US Drug and Alcohol requirements Manage driver qualification files after orientation Maintain Master Drivers License file Maintain Master Driver Abstract file Manage citations assigned to legal help Other duties as assigned What Youll Bring 3-4 years of relevant experience College diploma or trade apprenticeship certification Certified Instructor in LCV, TDG, WHMIS, Air Brakes, and forklift (asset) Solid experience as a Class 1 driver with a valid Class 1 license Skills & Competencies: Audit and Inspection Collaboration and Leadership Database Management Regulatory Compliance Training Program Development Why people love working for Canada Cartage Cohesive team and a positive atmosphere Career growth opportunities Recognition initiatives for outstanding service Perks - discounted hotels, car rentals, entertainment, and more Fun events throughout the year Community involvement through volunteering We are a top employer!
