Overview Physician Assistant opportunity in the Emergency Department at Lakeridge Health. Status: Temporary Full Time. Schedule: 10/12 hour shifts, days/evenings/weekends (subject to change). This position is supported through the Ontario Physician Assistant Career Start Program, which supports new graduates with fulltime employment opportunities, mentorship and supervision, and longterm career growth within Ontario's health-care system. Duties And Responsibilities Provide clinical services under the direct supervision of ED staff physicians and support the patient experience. Obtain health and social histories; conduct physical assessments and interpret findings. Activate medical directives and interpret preliminary diagnostic tests (ECGs, laboratory tests, imaging). Perform procedures such as ECG, casting, suturing, application of orthopedic devices, slit lamp examination, measuring intraocular pressure, and visual acuity. Formulate treatment plans and connect patients to consultants, allied health, outpatient clinics and other services as needed. Document patient encounters and support healthcare technology and hospital applications (e.g., Clinical Information System, Order Set repository, bedside ultrasound). Work as an integrated member of the health care team with a focus on lifelong learning, quality improvement, patient safety and collaborative teambased care. Qualifications 2025 Graduate of McMaster University and the Consortium of PA Education the University of Toronto. Registration in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Current membership in good standing with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA) and/or NCCPA is required. Certified or eligible for certification through the Physician Assistant Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or United States (NCCPA). Graduate of MOHLTCapproved program including the Canadian Forces PA Training Program, or an accredited Canadian/American PA program, or trained International Medical Graduate. Flexible with superior organization skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fastpaced environment. Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion with confidential patient information and inquiries. Strong work ethic, professionalism, reliability and commitment to outstanding service. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal and relationship building abilities. Exposure to Lean principles and a commitment to using them to improve patient care.
