Summary: Under the direction of the Vice President of Human Resources, the Payroll Supervisor will manage and deliver full-cycle payroll services for all employees of the Fort McKay Group of Companies. The Payroll Supervisor will lead a team of payroll specialists, ensuring compliance with Employment Standards Legislation, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and related payroll and tax regulations. Key Responsibilities: Provide leadership to the payroll team and oversee daily operations. Manage full-cycle payroll to ensure accurate and timely employee pay. Oversee Dayforce support services for employees. Administer Pension and Benefits programs. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of payroll tax remittances, WCB installments, garnishments, and union benefits. Drive process improvements and implement new technology for efficiency. Coach, mentor, and supervise payroll staff, maintaining positive relationships and alignment with company standards. Handle payroll inquiries professionally and promptly. Provide information and support to managers and staff on payroll matters. Review and approve out-of-cycle manual payroll checks. Perform annual payroll and benefits cost compilations, T4 and T4 summary reporting. Maintain awareness of current payroll legislation and adjust system parameters accordingly. Develop and implement new procedures, ensuring legislative compliance and best practices. Manage government remittances, prepare reports, and handle payroll deductions and union reporting. Analyze and correct payroll errors, ensuring system integrity. Revise payroll procedures to adopt best practices. Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy laws regarding personal information. Participate in special projects as directed by the VP of HR. Perform additional duties as assigned. Knowledge and Skills: Post-secondary education in Accounting or Business; CPM designation required. Valid Class 5 Drivers License and a satisfactory 3-year driving record. Proficiency in MS Office; experience with SAP and Ceridian Dayforce HCM is an asset. 5-7 years of payroll, accounting, or related experience, preferably in a unionized environment. Strong knowledge of payroll principles, Alberta Employment Standards, and privacy laws. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills. High attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work independently and in teams, multitask effectively. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement. Position Details: This is a full-time position located in Fort McMurray, AB. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
