This role is critical in ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality laminated veneer lumber (LVL), plywood, and residual products while supporting operational efficiency and safety. With approximately 250 employees, Heffley Creek Division produces LVL, Plywood and Veneer products, safely and sustainably while producing approximately 180 million square feet of plywood and 28 million square feet of veneer per year, for customers around the world so they can build their homes and their communities. Responsibilities Develop, implement, maintain and monitor quality management systems to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee laboratory operations , including the setup, maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results. Ensure all process and laboratory testing equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards. Lead and participate in all process and product improvement initiatives and new product development. Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process issues to minimize product impact and downtime and to enhance production efficiency. Conduct regular reviews and reports to update stakeholders on quality metrics, laboratory performance, and equipment status. Provide training and support to staff on quality management systems, laboratory procedures, and equipment use and maintenance. Qualifications Post-secondary education in Wood Science, Forestry, Engineering , or a related technical field is considered a strong asset. EIT or P.Eng registration considered an asset. Minimum of 3 years experience in a technical related role within the EWP or manufacturing environments. Strong knowledge of engineered wood manufacturing processes and quality standards. Experience with finger jointing and face laminating is an asset. Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is an asset. Experience supervising laboratory operations within an industrial manufacturing environment , specifically in a quality assurance/quality control . Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills . Proficiency in technical documentation and reporting. Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab, SPSS) and techniques such as control charts, hypothesis testing , regression analysis, and design of experiments (DOE) desired. Ability to work both day and afternoon shifts. As we are not located in a transit-accessible area, individuals must have a reliable means of getting to and from work.
