Job Description

As one of Albertas leading earthworks contractors, we operate a fleet of over 600 pieces of earthmoving equipment. We are currently seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance operations and support the continued growth and efficiency of our fleet. Position Overview This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a busy maintenance shop and managing a team of skilled heavy-duty technicians. The ideal candidate will bring strong mechanical expertise, excellent organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and quality. Key Responsibilities Supervise daily shop operations and provide clear direction to shop employees Champion safety initiatives and ensure a safe working environment Assign and prioritize work to ensure timely and efficient equipment repairs Manage parts procurement and inventory within budget Act as a technical resource for troubleshooting and repair guidance Monitor productivity and workmanship to maintain high-quality standards Oversee facility maintenance and ensure shop efficiency Approve timesheets and close work orders with accurate documentation Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and training of shop personnel Conduct safety orientations and ongoing training to foster a safety-first culture Coordinate with external contractors for specialized repairs and overhauls Identify training needs and support team development Provide regular performance feedback, including probationary and annual reviews Inspect and sign off on completed equipment repairs Manage tool crib and arrange for tool maintenance and repairs Maintain a clean, organized, and collaborative shop environment Qualifications Journeyman Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (required) Proven experience in a supervisory or leadership role in heavy equipment maintenance Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities Demonstrated commitment to safety and team development Flexibility to work extra hours as needed What We Offer Competitive compensation and benefits package Matching RRSP program Opportunity to work with one of Albertas largest equipment fleets #J-18808-Ljbffr
