The group works on design, construction, maintenance and rehabilitation of mine tailings facilities in Quebec, applying high industry standards and environmental care. The team comprises over 100 engineers and technicians in geotechnics, collaborating on multidisciplinary projects with hydrology, hydrogeology and environmental teams, from concept studies to field investigations, detailed engineering and construction supervision. The role promotes WSPs local actions with global thinking and sustainable mining practices. What you can expect to do Under the supervision of the team lead, the CPI in geotechnics contributes actively to professional engineering mandates in mining geotechnics. The successful candidate will lead assigned mandates, applying WSPs quality process and meeting deadlines and budgets. Responsibilities include: Participate in engineering efforts to resolve design and construction problems under the supervision of a engineer; Contribute to geotechnical projects in connection with a principal client or mining sector clients; Collaborate on studies with geotechnical, hydrological, environmental and other multidisciplinary components; Prepare technical reports; Provide technical support to mining operations to optimize processes or reduce risk; Contribute to the technical aspect of the bid process for a client, from the detailed design of earth retention structures to the signing of plans and specifications for construction, including participation in evaluation of bids; Prioritize safety above all. What you bring to WSP Bachelors degree in civil, geological, mining or related engineering field; 2nd or 3rd cycle degree in geotechnics or related field is an asset; In good standing with the Ordre des ingnieurs du Qubec (OIQ) or eligible to become one; Junior-level experience in the mining sector, mining geotechnics, tailings management, embankment dams or earthworks; Candidate may choose the Quebec office location that suits them best; WSP is present in most regions of Quebec.
