Location: Stanley Park Community Centre - 505 Franklin Street N. Kitchener, Ontario Purpose of Position: To manage and coordinate the organization's program operations. Position Overview: The Program Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing recreation and leisure programs at the Stanley Park Community Centre. The role includes preparing a monthly report for the Board of Directors, Program Committee, and Stanley Park Ball Lead, as well as working with City of Kitchener staff and the appropriate Program Coordinator to address participant complaints, refund requests, age exceptions, and other day-to-day items. This includes liaising with program instructors and assistants, ensuring program quality, and responding to community needs. The Program Manager will also act as a backup for the Program Administrator in hiring instructors and creating contracts when needed. Key Responsibilities: Program Development and Implementation: Support Program Committee to design and schedule a variety of programs for all age groups, ensuring they meet community needs. Create program outlines with the support of Program Coordinators and Instructors. Evaluate program effectiveness and make improvements as needed. Oversee booking of substitute instructors, in collaboration with the Program Administrator. Respond to participant inquiries, concerns, and complaints. Orient new instructors as they are hired throughout the year, and assist with the annual instructor orientation led by the Program Committee. Serve as the primary point of contact for program instructors and assistants. Conduct regular check-ins to provide guidance, address concerns, and ensure adherence to SPCA policies and procedures. Hiring and Contracts (Backup Role): Support the part-time Program Administrator in recruiting instructors and creating contracts as needed. Ensure compliance with organizational policies during the hiring process. Book permits with City of Kitchener. Manage fee assistance requests. Prepare RAMP software for registration. Act as point of contact for Ball inquiries. Attend Ball Committee meetings. Liaise with Stanley Park Ball Lead. Administrative Duties: Support City of Kitchener program registration and monitor enrollment. Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring cost efficiency. Prepare reports on program performance for the Program Committee and Board of Directors. Attend Program Committee meetings. Monthly check-in with Program Coordinators. Create the Program Template based on the Program Schedule. Follow all Critical Path Timelines for SPCA. Other duties as assigned. Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure all programs comply with health and safety regulations. Address incidents or emergencies effectively. Manage internal incident report system. Time Commitment: The anticipated start date is in March 2025. Work will be completed on-site at the Stanley Park Community Center, Grand River Recreational Complex, and in the Community as needed. A mix of day, evening, and weekend shifts required. Works 35 hours per week; overtime as needed and approved. Qualifications: Post-secondary education in recreation management, community development, or a related field. 2+ years of experience in program coordination or community recreation. Familiarity with recruitment and contract management is an asset. Strong organizational and multitasking skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G Suite, and scheduling software. First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain). Training and Professional Development: Basic Health and Safety, AODA, and evacuation training provided. Tour and overview of all programs. Training in specific software used by the Association. Opportunities to attend workshops, meetings, and other training sessions pertaining to the position. Renumeration: Salary: $52,000 - $60,000 (based on education and experience). Paid Sick Time.
