You are responsible for providing instruction for a wide variety of specialized group fitness and fitness-related classes in identified programs at the City of Ottawa, in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures, rules and regulations. Education And Experience Completion of Grade 10 and Current Fitness Certification from a recognized fitness certification organization (or equivalent as deemed acceptable by management). Minimum Of 6 Months Of Experience Or Equivalent Apprenticeship. CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES Fitness Instructor certificate (e.g., canfitpro, YM-YWCA, Ontario Fitness Council or other recognized certification) Current Standard First Aid, CPR and/or AED certificates AODA Customer Service/IASR Training KNOWLEDGE Corporate and Departmental policies, guidelines and directives City of Ottawa emergency response procedures Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers Competencies, Skills And Abilities Knowledge base, skills and training necessary to lead variety of fitness classes Ability to speak clearly and actively listen Maintain a fun and safe environment Understanding of community fitness environment and needs Flexible Creative Organized Reliable Strong interpersonal skills. Open to change and innovation What You Need To Know Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.
