Aviva Trial Lawyers is currently seeking an Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk for our Toronto/Markham/Oakville office. As an Accident Benefits Litigation Clerk, you will support one lawyer in handling accident benefit matters. Familiarity with tort litigation is also required. This is a hybrid position involving clerking tasks and day-to-day file management. Come join our team! What you'll do: Prepare and draft correspondence and legal documents (motion records, affidavits, memos, cost outlines, subpoenas, orders, responses, briefs, case summaries); file documents with courts/tribunals following applicable rules. Compile books of authorities and factums. Request and follow up on productions and undertakings. Summarize discovery notes, transcripts, reports. Arrange investigations/surveillance and prepare instruction letters. Coordinate independent medical examinations and draft briefs. Dictate, file, schedule, update calendars and internal databases. Maintain electronic file organization. Book travel arrangements. Ensure accuracy of information in matterMANAGER. Liaise with counsel, external parties, and claims operations. What you'll bring: Minimum 5+ years of legal assistant or law clerk experience in insurance defence or personal injury litigation. Post-secondary legal assistant or law clerk accreditation or equivalent experience preferred. Proficiency with MS Word, ACL, Adobe, Kofax, Outlook. Knowledge of relevant tribunal and court rules. Ability to work in a paperless environment. Customer service orientation and excellent communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Initiative and ability to work independently or in a team. Mature work ethic and good humor.
