We are looking for a Community Safety Ambassador (CSA), an individual who walks and talks, working closely with community members and organizations to promote safety, security, and well-being within a specific community or neighborhood. The primary role involves building positive relationships, addressing safety concerns, and providing support and education to community members. Community Safety Ambassadors play a vital role in fostering a safe and secure environment, requiring excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse community members. Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, relationship building, and organizational abilities are also essential for success in this role. Additionally, a good understanding of community dynamics, local resources, and safety protocols is crucial for effectively addressing community safety concerns. Job Duties Conduct patrols to monitor and deter unauthorized activities or unsafe behavior. Assist in emergency situations by coordinating with law enforcement, fire, or medical services. Report suspicious activities and document incidents. Work with residents to address safety concerns and improve neighborhood security. De-escalate conflicts and intervene in disputes when necessary. Serve as a bridge between unhoused individuals and shelters staff. Provide first aid or assist in emergencies until professional help arrives. Ensure compliance with local rules, regulations, and community policies. Maintain records of incidents, interventions, and safety concerns. Job Requirements Minimum High School diploma or Grade 12 education Must have finished social service diploma / degree; community service diploma / degree from a Canadian College or University. Able to work nights, weekends, weekdays, and holidays Able to work outdoors (Extreme weather conditions) with excessive walking and long periods of standing Expected hours: 24 44 per week Additional pay: Overtime pays Benefits: Extended health care benefits Flexible language requirement: Must be Bilingual if applying for Montreal location.
