Position Summary: The Payroll & Programs Administrator is responsible for the accurate and timely payroll processing, benefits administration, and effective program coordination to ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements. This will include handling confidential payroll functions, maintaining accurate employee records, and supporting program initiatives while collaborating with the HR team and other departments. Key Responsibilities: Ensures accurate and timely processing of weekly and bi-weekly payroll. Conducts regular audits, and imports timesheet information from various locations. Verifies and balances hours, and ensures proper approvals and controls are followed. Collaborates with the HR team on the administration of new hires and terminations. Ensures the daily maintenance, integrity, and operations of the payroll system. Identifies and resolves payroll issues to meet critical deadlines. Prepares monthly and annual reporting, reconciliations, and journal entries. Prepares, balances, and remits tax form documents in accordance with statutory requirements. Prepares government remittances, reports, and reconciliations for statutory deductions, payroll tax, and Human Resources Development Canada requests. Maintains confidentiality, system integrity, compliance with company policies and procedures, government regulations, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Manages the Flanagan Work Anniversary Program, including the coordination of cards and gifts for those celebrating employment milestones. Administers the Employee Group Benefit program, including new hire enrollment. Supports the administration of the Pension Plan as required. Prepares and distributes communications to employees. Other duties as required. Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of Payroll or related experience required. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Human Resources considered an asset. Canadian Payroll Association Certification or working towards certification considered an asset. Comprehensive understanding of payroll legislation, employment standards, and payroll accounting. Strong organization and time management skills to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Intermediate level experience with Microsoft Office applications, including a high level of experience in Excel. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of employee benefit programs. Strong attention to detail and passion for accuracy. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and Canadian Payroll regulations. Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Experience with using computerized payroll systems (i.e., Ceridian Dayforce, ADP). Previous experience with both union and non-union payroll considered an asset. Must be a team player and demonstrate a positive attitude. Must maintain a high level of confidentiality. Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet critical and time-sensitive deadlines. Sitting for long periods of time. Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
