Financial Aid Advisor Employer: Heritage College Job Details: Business Address and Job Location: 3250 Sunridge Way NE, Unit 2, Calgary, AB T1Y 7K4 Wage: Please specify Employment Terms and Conditions: Full-Time (40-45 hours/week), permanent, morning, day, weekend, overtime during busy season (hours may increase up to 9 hours/day) Vacancies: 1 Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Job Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Business, Accounting, or Finance required; Bachelor's degree preferred At least one year of accounting or finance experience in a service environment Experience working in a financial aid office highly desirable Knowledge of federal and provincial financial aid programs and regulations Excellent customer service skills Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to explain complex policies clearly Proficiency in QuickBooks and related financial tools Responsibilities: Processing and Compliance: Manage financial aid applications, ensure accuracy, and adhere to financial controls and reporting standards, including managing funds from government agencies. Student Advising: Provide financial aid guidance via email, phone, and in person, maintaining confidentiality. Information Dissemination: Share key information about financial aid processes, policies, and timelines with students and staff. System Troubleshooting: Resolve issues related to loan processing systems, collaborating with IT specialists for improvements. Loan Application Facilitation: Assess student eligibility, approve, and advise on funding applications, ensuring compliance with regulations. Transaction Monitoring: Monitor and reconcile transactions, especially for the Canadian Direct Loan program. Financial Planning Assistance: Help students develop payment strategies involving government funding and scholarships. Form Development: Assist in creating and updating operational forms for financial aid processes. Regulatory Knowledge: Keep up-to-date with federal and college financial aid regulations. Reporting and Application Compilation: Prepare reports and applications for government agencies. Campus Outreach: Visit campuses to inform and guide students, parents, and schools about financial aid. Team Collaboration: Work with college departments to support students holistically. Academic Progress Oversight: Monitor compliance with academic progress regulations. Budget Participation: Contribute to the development of the financial aid budget. Vendor Collaboration: Coordinate with lenders and third-party vendors. Billing Management: Ensure accurate billing of tuition and fees. Financial Literacy Support: Educate students on financial responsibilities and decision-making.
