GENERAL SUMMARY: Reporting to the VP of Operations, this role supports manufacturing operations across North America. The Health, Safety & Environmental Manager is responsible for implementing, managing, and monitoring all health, safety, & environmental programs in the region. LOCATION: Candidate to be based in Ontario, with up to 50% travel across North America. Compensation Range: $135k+ ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ensure local management, employees, and site committees adhere to corporate standards, actively communicate health, safety, & environmental issues, and develop corrective action plans. Maintain a positive public image and effective communication with government agencies, providing reports and technical data as required. Represent the company on health, safety, & environmental issues, liaising with external stakeholders including the public, government agencies, insurance carriers, and consultants. Develop policies and training programs to promote a safety culture across all employee levels. Manage budgets for HSE projects and oversee Regional HSE leaders. Develop strategic initiatives aligned with Sun Gros vision. Stay informed about changes in federal and provincial HSE legislation and regulations. Lead incident investigations and programs to prevent injuries and reduce costs. Track, record, and analyze HSE incident data, identifying trends. Review and modify work plans, processes, and procedures to improve safety performance. Communicate health and safety information to teams and leadership. Coach, mentor, and support the HSE team and plant HSE needs across North America. Collaborate with plant and functional leaders to resolve complex HSE issues. OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE: 7-10 years of HSE experience in continuous manufacturing, with proven results. Experience in compliance and process auditing. Project management skills from inception to completion. Knowledge of provincial occupational health and safety laws across Canada and OSHA standards in the U.S., along with workers' compensation, Fire Code, CSA, and ANSI standards. Strong leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, and change management.
