Summary Under the direction of the VP of Human Resources, the HR Business Partner is responsible for performing duties related to employee and labour relations. This includes responding to employee complaints, investigating concerns, coaching management on employment laws, interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements, and providing advice on policies and procedures. The role involves coordinating resolution of policy-related issues and reporting to the Manager of Employee and Labour Relations. Key Responsibilities Resolve policy and procedural issues through advice, assistance, and follow-up. Conduct research and investigations into operational issues as requested. Advise managers on HR-related issues and work with Health, Safety, and Environment personnel on related policies. Ensure compliance with employment legislation. Conduct site visits to provide HR presence and develop rapport with employees. Collaborate with union representatives and managers to resolve employee issues. Support managers and supervisors with employee relations matters. Handle complaints, disputes, and grievances, reporting conclusions to the Manager. Prepare reports on serious matters and maintain employee relations records. Manage cases related to discipline, performance, grievances, and absences. Support employee engagement initiatives and monitor employment practices trends. Arrange exit interviews and develop relationships to promote good employee relations. Manage employee leaves and uphold record standards in HRIS systems. Support training initiatives on policies and procedures. Develop and implement employee development and retention programs. Skills and Requirements Post-secondary education in Human Resources; a Bachelor's degree is an asset. Minimum of 5 years in an HR role. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Exceptional communication and analytical skills. Strong organizational skills for high employee relations. Knowledge of HR management systems. Resourceful with high attention to detail and professional demeanor. Experience in unionized environments and bargaining is an asset. Legally eligible to work in Canada. This full-time position is located in Fort McMurray, AB, at the satellite office. Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day. NOTE: Flights and camp accommodation are NOT provided.
