This position has primary responsibility for the development and delivery of individualized programs/strategies to students who require additional support to ensure they have the necessary tools to achieve academic success. Responsibilities Meeting with students one-on-one to assess and identify areas in need of improvement in relation to academic success Develop and deliver individualized learning plans for students with a broad range of disabilities based on each students unique needs and learning style (i.e. study strategies, organizational strategies, time management, coping skills and other areas of need) Work in collaboration with Tutors, Instructors, and other staff as appropriate, providing training and support when needed for students with specific learning differences Support and enhance each students personal and academic success Serve as a resource to the College on matters related to learning strategies for students with learning differences Assist with special events and other services offered through the department Assist with additional tasks and special projects as assigned to support the operation of the department Education And Experience University degree in Education, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or related qualification Minimum two years in a secondary or post-secondary educational setting working directly with students in the planning and provision of educational supports to students with special needs Proven experience providing learning strategies to students within a diverse population Proven ability to provide solution-focused interventions Skills And Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills Superior organizational, problem-solving and interpersonal skills required Ability to demonstrate flexibility within the decision-making process Ability to remain objective in decision-making when presented with emotionally charged situations and at times limited information Flexibility and ability to change within strict time constraints and meet deadlines High attention to detail Strong time management skills Perks & Benefits Health Spending & Lifestyle Accounts Educational Allowance for Professional Development Emergency Allowance for Unexpected Needs Free Massages at Our Student Clinic Discounts on College Programs & Courses Staff Discount in College Store On-Site Gym Access Free Parking Qualified candidates should reply to this ad with their cover letter and resume.
