Overview Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to join GHD Canadas Engineering Design Organization supporting transportation projects. The role can be based in Mississauga, Toronto, Markham or Whitby. The Bridge Group works with provincial, regional, municipal agencies and select partners on large-scale transportation projects across highways, roads and bridges, providing full-service bridge engineering from planning to asset management support. Responsibilities Engineering Solutions Design: participate in and complete multi-disciplinary transportation structure projects, rail bridges and complex designs; produce conceptual and detailed design, technical specifications, and cost/schedule estimates. Engineering Standards Specification: work within various procurement models and roles. Collaboration: work in small and large teams; lead integration with other disciplines to deliver high-quality project deliverables. Knowledge Management: develop policies and processes, create best practices, and deliver internal knowledge-sharing sessions. Technical Developments Recommendation: prepare reports and contract documents for review agencies, clients and the public. Professional Supervision: provide technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff. Collaboration with Business Group Leaders, Project Managers and Directors, focusing on structural design for transit infrastructure; ensure timely, high-quality deliverables; coordinate with sub-consultants, municipalities, utilities and clients. Feasibility Studies: conduct complex studies and document findings for cost-benefit analyses related to changes in business processes, products, or structure. Project Management: exposure to planning, development, and monitoring of project schedules and budgets. Client & External Stakeholder Management: maintain contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies and clients. Needs Assessment and Improvement/Innovation: identify issues, propose improvements, and contribute to change management projects under guidance from senior colleagues. Education A Professional Engineering (P. Eng) license with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is required. Experience 15+ years of experience in design and engineering of bridge projects. Experience with alternative delivery methodology. Metrolinx and AREMA experience. CN Rail, CP Rail, and MTO experience considered an asset. Familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), Ontario design standards (OPSS), and client-specific standards (e.g., MTO). Experience in leading or mentoring a team is an asset. Bilingualism in English and French or Spanish is considered an asset. Location & Employment Based in Canada with offices in Mississauga, Toronto, Markham or Whitby.
