Overview Join to apply for the Field Service Technician - Vapor role at John Zink. This position supports the refining and petrochemical industries in the vapor group. What you will do Travel to job sites from your home office to perform checkout, testing, troubleshooting and commissioning/startup of a wide variety of electrical and mechanical equipment for our manufactured equipment. Perform maintenance on equipment, including pumps, motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters, combustion equipment, emission monitoring equipment, recorders, and PLCs. Commission, troubleshoot and alter different types of PLCs (primarily Allen-Bradley, Emerson, Wonderware), PID loop controllers, VFDs, HMIs, and other control devices. Modify technical documents and drawings (redlines) to reflect final field changes for commissioning of equipment. Travel extensively within Canada and potentially to the US; minimum 75% travel expected. Be on call for customer service as needed. Who you are (Basic Qualifications) Experience programming, calibrating, and configuring 4-20 mA loop devices. Experience diagnosing and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, GE). Experience applying NEC or CEC. Experience reading P&ID, fabrication drawings, and electrical schematics. Able to travel 75% of the time. Valid Canadian Drivers License; able to drive a company vehicle and respond to customers when needed. Physical requirements Able to lift up to 50 lb occasionally and 25 lb routinely; able to bend, stoop, crawl and maneuver around equipment. Able to hear, see colors and observe visuals up close and at distance. Work is in outdoor environments with long days on occasion. What will put you ahead Experience with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix, RSLogix, GE Rx3i, and other PLCs. 2-year technical degree or 4 years of military service with boilers. Field experience in petrochemical, power generation, renewable energy, pulp & paper, or food processing. Experience with Modicon and Siemens PLCs. Electrical journeyman license. Experience with industrial safety standards (OSHA, NFPA 70E, CCOHS, CSA B149.3). Experience with motors, VFDs, positioners, valves, actuators, transmitters and PLC equipment. This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship. Compensation Hourly range: $55 to $65 CAD per hour; this role is eligible for variable pay. Base is open to a range based on experience.
