We are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to work with autonomy on Canadas future-forward engineering projects. Ideal candidates will have experience with large, complex projects across transportation, industrial, municipal, institutional, and commercial building sectors, and familiarity with multiple delivery methods. The Opportunity: This role involves serving as an established technical resource, mentoring engineers and designers in producing engineering calculations, drawings, and specifications. What you can expect to do here Support managers with preliminary fee estimations, resourcing, and deliverables for proposals and pursuits. Apply deep knowledge of mechanical systems including HVAC, hydronic heating and cooling, ventilation, platform snow melting, and infloor heating. Full understanding of Plumbing & Fire Protection (P&FP) including potable water, sanitary and storm piping, natural gas calculation and piping for buildings and trackside SCD, fire protection, sprinkler and clean agent suppression systems, and Building Automation System (BAS). Provide day-to-day guidance to the design team, act as design lead on projects, attend meetings, and represent WSP with clients. Mentor junior engineers, share technical knowledge, codes and standards, and provide educational materials and lessons learned. Contribute to proposals and pursuits with technical leadership, project resourcing, and business development support. Lead multidisciplinary project teams focused on client-specific requirements including planning, engineering design, construction, post-construction, and financial management deliverables. Coordinate with other discipline leads (architecture, structural, electrical, BIM, civil, etc.). What youll bring to WSP Minimum bachelors degree in mechanical engineering with 15+ years of consulting engineering experience. Registered Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO); other provinces are a plus. Experience with transportation projects (road, rail, aviation, ports, marinas) including assets such as bus garages, MSF facilities, train terminals, airport terminals, parking garages, hangers, central utility plants, and port facilities. Experience with various project delivery methods including Alliance, Progressive Design & Build (PDB), Design-Build (DB and its variations), IPD, and conventional DBB. Hands-on experience with mechanical systems (hydronics, HVAC, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, piping, gas distribution, fire protection, FPS/FSS), BAS integration with SCADA, and relevant codes and standards (OBC, CSA, ASHRAE, NFPA, ASPE, etc.).
