Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for all aspects of caseload management by utilizing clinically accepted procedures to assess, plan, and implement Speech-Language programs, either directly or through training caregivers and the community, to reach each clients maximum potential. This position reports to the Speech-Language Department Leader. Union : Health Sciences Association Health Science Professionals Barganing Association Wage Scale : I P1 Wage Range : $42.27 $52.68 33.75 Hours per week 0.9 FTE Typical Duties and Responsibilities Screen, assess, and evaluate the Speech-Language needs of families and clients, in accordance with the established practices of the profession of Speech-Language, aged 0 to 19 years (currently serving ages 0-6). Using a family-centred model, collaborates with the family to provide direct and indirect services for a designated zone caseload, consisting of screening, assessment, goal setting, therapy, and monitoring coordination and consultation. Therapy/intervention may consist of a 1:1 or a group setting. Provide home programs when required. Evaluate treatment progress regularly. Maintain up-to-date statistical recording and recording of services provided, including direct and indirect intervention, goals, progress notes. evaluation, and discharge. Create reports based on information obtained during sessions to share with families and Centre staff involved with the child as required. Advise family and caregivers on choosing and ordering appropriate materials. Utilize the loan cupboard where appropriate. Provide information, education and include family members in all aspects of service delivery. Consult with family and caregivers about where the service will be provided. Research additional resources available and have knowledge of agencies and programs in the community to make referrals to when appropriate. Develop Child Family Service plans as required. Participate as a collaborative member of an interdisciplinary zone team and participate in regular meetings for the purposes of interdisciplinary coordination and planning of services. Participate in departmental and agency meetings as required. Be familiar with applicable NCDC and zone/Department policies and procedures. Assist in the maintenance of equipment. Mentorship of practicum students or volunteers as required. Assist with orientation for new NCDC staff as required. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Qualifications Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent Two years experience or commitment to working in a family-centred, collaborative service model Knowledge/training in feeding, augmentative and alternative forms of communication: i.e. sign language, picture or symbol communication and technological aids Knowledge of group processes and facilitation techniques is an asset Previous experience or interest in working with a pediatric caseload Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills Valid drivers license and available vehicle/transportation with adequate insurance Criminal record check clearance Physically capable of performing all aspects of the job #J-18808-Ljbffr
