We are growing our Natural Environment Team in Southern Ontario and are seeking a Terrestrial Ecologist to support projects in the region. The successful candidate will join our team of biologists, environmental professionals, and field technicians, contributing expertise in field programs and natural heritage reporting for diverse sectors including energy, waterpower, transportation, and land development for both public and private clients. The role offers hybrid work with flexible hours, remote work options, and access to one of our offices across the GTA (Kitchener, Guelph, Burlington, Mississauga, Spadina-Fort York, or Bowmanville). The position involves both office-based responsibilities and seasonal terrestrial fieldwork, including preparing proposals, technical reports, and environmental impact studies. Demonstrated expertise in botany and bats is preferred at this time. Primary Responsibilities Conduct terrestrial field inventories. Prepare environmental impact evaluation statements, design ecological studies, and author other technical documents. Develop appropriate avoidance and mitigation measures. Complete requests for authorizations and permits under the Endangered Species Act and Species at Risk Act. Work with clients to find practical solutions that minimizes impacts to the natural environment. Qualifications Minimum of 5 years of experience focused on terrestrial ecology, preferably in a consulting environment. Degree or diploma in Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or equivalent experience. Proven expertise in study design, data collection, natural environment assessments, mitigation, and/or monitoring. Strong knowledge of relevant municipal, provincial, and federal legislation and policies. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
