Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Day Camps Location: North Bay, ON, Canada Overview This job posting is for an existing vacancy and is intended to fill a current position within our organization. Under the leadership of the Centre Manager of Health and Wellness, the Supervisor of Recreational Programming and Day Camps oversees the planning, coordination, and delivery of programs and services within the Recreation Department. This includes managing day camps, afterschool programs, and related initiatives at all YMCA and partner locations. The role is responsible for program supervision and development, quality assurance, special events, scheduling, human resource management, meeting financial targets and managing within the department budget, and staff and volunteer development according to YMCA policies, procedures, and standards. Start date: As soon as possible Location: North Bay, ON Rate of pay: $44,400 - $57,600 per year Major Responsibilities Develop program initiatives to enhance member experience and ensure program areas, offerings, and services are aligned with the Health and Wellness member retention plan Develop innovative programs that support the Health & Wellness retention plan, enhance youth department growth, and align with YMCAs Standards for safety, maintenance, mission, and brand Work with the marketing team to promote YMCA programs through online platforms, community events, and in-branch initiatives Coordinate and schedule department programs, partnerships, and special events to meet budget targets and support overall YMCA initiatives Communicate day camp and program schedules each session to members, participants, membership services staff, and program teams, ensuring clear and timely information for all stakeholders Procure supplies and equipment Recruit, hire, and supervise staff, volunteers, and schedule training events for staff and volunteers to ensure compliance with mandatory certifications Provide training, coaching, and support to staff and volunteers Assist in the development of the department budget and attain targets Provide leadership to the level of service delivery for the department using Experience Standards Qualifications College diploma or University degree in Recreation, Child and Youth Worker, Early Childhood Education, or related field Safe Food Handlers certificate/Adventures in Cooking certificate considered an asset High Five Certificate considered an asset Quest 2 Certificate considered an asset Healthy Child Development Certificate or equivalent considered an asset Training in sports, athletics, outdoor recreation, or related disciplines is considered an asset Minimum of one (1) year of supervisory experience in a similar role Minimum of two (2) years of working directly with children and youth Excellent verbal and written communication skills Excellent interpersonal skills Reliable transportation to easily work across various locations Current Standard First Aid and CPR C Current and satisfactory Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector What We Offer Free Personal Membership and Family Membership Discounts for day camps and recreational programs, summer camp and licensed child care for toddlers up to school-age Paid vacation and sick / personal days Extended Health and Dental Care Program that includes coverage for Vision and Professional Services such as those performed by Dieticians, Chiropractors, Massage Therapists, Psychologists, Naturopaths, and more Employee and Family Assistance Program that includes short-term mental health supports such as counselling and online courses, and lifestyle coaching including legal and financial counselling Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment & Long-Term Disability Benefits Team bonding and employee recognition events Opportunity to explore a wide range of jobs and functions Flexible hours and scheduling, and hybrid work options, depending on role How To Apply If you would like to work in a family friendly environment, please apply by website only, with a cover letter and resume by March 12, 2025 to the attention of the Personnel Committee.
