Overview What will you be doing! Responsibilities Administering Fitness for Duty Assessment and Testing: taking direction from the Fitness for Duty Policies and Human Resources (HR) on situations requiring drug and alcohol testing, such as post-incident, and identifying position descriptions needing REGDOC pre-placement and random testing. Facilitating all drug and alcohol tests for post-incident, pre-placement, random, return to duty, follow-up, and just cause scenarios in alignment with HR policies and direction. Arranging fitness for duty assessments (including drug and alcohol testing) with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) nurses acting as second observers for signs and symptoms of impairment in just cause cases. Referring employees to Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) when applicable. Maintaining communications with ATS, following ATS and CNL return to duty and random testing requirements, and implementing testing regimes with associated key stakeholders and documentation. Working with Health Centre staff to arrange medication reviews, psychological assessments, and fatigue assessments when appropriate. Adhering to CNL Policy and Regulatory Requirements. Coordinating fitness for duty testers and testers training. Coordinating calibration of drug and alcohol testing equipment. Maintaining testing supplies and forms. Maintaining and updating testing instructions and procedures. Training testers on testing processes in-between formal training cycles. Maintaining and communicating the weekly On-Call testers schedules. Performing test results handling, storage, and communication with sensitivity. Compiling, maintaining, and reporting on program statistics, participation, program developments, and outcomes. Providing Training on Fitness for Duty (FFD) Policies, Processes, Resources, and Substances: developing and providing training to CNL groups on program requirements and testing processes. Providing education sessions on the impact of using various substances (medications, drugs, alcohol) on drug and alcohol testing, as well as on the body. Educating on the company FFD policies. Educating on Addiction Treatment Services and other program-related topics across CNL. Supporting Case Management: collaborating in case management of cases requiring Human Resources (HR) and Management intervention for breaches of CNLs Fitness for Duty Policies. Assisting with Letters of Expectations and Memorandums of Agreement, ensuring all fitness for duty assessments, treatment schedules, testing requirements, and return to duty protocols are adhered to and reflected accordingly. Communicating with the Addictions Treatment provider on employee adherence to stipulated attendance, compliance, treatment, and follow-up testing. Performing the CNL Contractor Representative role in onboarding, security clearing, maintaining, scheduling, and supporting any contractors related to the Fitness for Duty Program, such as DriverCheck and Renfrew Victoria Hospital ATS. Developing and maintaining service provider and community partnerships. Collaborating routinely with nuclear industry partners in creating and aligning with industry best practices. Engaging in program promotion (engaging, interesting, and relevant). Coordinating services, if appropriate, with service provider programs (i.e., Sunlife, Disability Management, Employee and Family Assistance Program, etc.). Reporting results and tracking Return on Investment if requested. Serving as Health Centre liaison for the Fitness for Duty Program. Performing other duties as required to contribute to the overall success of CNL's Fitness for Duty Program, consistent with the position's qualifications and professional practices. Other duties as assigned by your manager. Qualifications Education Preferably has a health sciences bachelors degree or a Diploma. Certification as an addiction treatment professional is considered an asset. Training in Human Resources would be considered an asset. Proof of membership in good standing with a regulatory health professional body, such as a Registered Nurse, is required. Other related credentials (Registered Practical Nurse, Kinesiologist, or Dietitian with malpractice insurance) would be considered an asset. Experience 3-5 years of proven experience with Fitness for Duty program implementation and/or Addictions Treatment Services in a nuclear and unionized environment. Must have a Valid Class G drivers license. Recent / updated Certified Standard First Aid training. 3-5 years of experience providing counselling, education, training, and lifestyle coaching. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Superior verbal and written communication skills. Strong commitment to high-quality service delivery. Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and electronic medical charting. Excellent organization and time management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Ability to work effectively under pressure with multiple changing priorities. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Proven attendance record. Ability to develop and deliver education sessions one-on-one and in group settings regarding fitness for duty programs, drug and alcohol use education and recommending CNLs support and treatment services. Knowledge in Fitness for Duty program implementation and/or Addictions Treatment Services in a nuclear and unionized environment. Knowledge of services and interfaces regarding addiction treatment counselling, treatment services, education, and training.
