Job Overview Job Overview The Accounting Associate, Member Payments is responsible for supporting the day-to-day payments of claims from multiple trust bank accounts. This position will play a key role in maintaining the 1 day turnaround deadlines on claim payments, as well as supporting Accounting as required. Responsibilities Assists the claims department with problems or questions regarding the status of claims payments. Performs sanctions checks on all parties paid via claims process and works with compliance to resolve any escalations. Submit and confirm direct deposit file from various banks and void any rejected transactions. Find and correct inconsistencies. Maintain client confidentiality. Investigate returned mail. Communicate professionally, internally and externally, and work well with partners and clients. Integration of daily claims batches. Issuing of cheques, EFT payments and other forms of claims payments in the correct amount provided by the Claims department. Sending out EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) and other forms of proof of payment. Posting claims payments in the general ledger. Assist with compilation and maintenance of KPIs and documentation for ISO. Qualifications and Education Requirements Three or more years of experience in an accounting position particularly within an AP department or a Claims department. Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels throughout the organization. Exceptional time management and organizational skills. Outstanding communication skills written and verbal. Thrive in a fast paced, high-volume environment. Ability to take initiative and demonstrate sound judgement. Computer proficiency, including MS Office (especially Excel). Ability to learn new software. Preferred Skills Prior work experience at an insurance company, brokerage or managing general agency. Prior experience making a high volume of payments on a daily basis. Not necessary, but nice to have. Additional Notes Our work week is Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. The hours are flexible with start times between 8am and 10am. Occasional flexibility in hours is required to meet the needs of the business. A laptop will be provided.
