Summary The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing a team of Technicians in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services for assigned facilities. The role ensures work is performed according to established processes and practices and compliant with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection requirements. In addition to people leadership, the Maintenance Team Leader also performs and delivers preventative and corrective maintenance as well as routine and on-demand services. Key Duties & Responsibilities People Leadership Leads a team of individual contributors Assigns, prioritizes and monitors work progress Monitors execution of activities and performance to ensure timely completion and adherence to all requirements including procedures, quality, performance and contract response Guides, coaches and trains direct reports Provides input for performance review Leads the delivery of as well as performs the following Oversees and monitors the activities and performance of Technicians within the assigned facility. Ensures activities are performed in accordance with established processes and internal/external requirements including environmental, health and safety, fire protection Oversees proper application and execution of processes to ensure adherence to all requirements Oversees and performs regular facility, mechanical and electrical equipment and system monitoring and inspection, preventative and corrective maintenance to meet uptime objectives and asset integrity; provides observations and recommendations for enhancement and repair Oversees facility walkthroughs and system monitoring and inspection Oversees and maintains, troubleshoots and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment Oversees on-demand service requests and performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility systems Maintains work order records within the service management database and initiates documents for formal approval of work required Coordinates and assists in implementing preventative maintenance programs; ensures deficiencies are identified, recorded and escalated, and related documentation is maintained Coordinates and participates in facility-related projects Oversees and maintains tools, arranges for repair/replacement, and submits expenditures promptly Provides and supports training, safety meetings, operational meetings, toolbox talks, etc. Willing to work shifts, be available for on-call/standby and emergency callouts Assists in enhancing tenant and customer satisfaction and maintaining positive relations through service delivery Other duties as assigned Work Requirements Must be available to be on-call and respond to emergencies Must be willing to wear personal protective equipment Knowledge And Skills 5 years of facility operations and maintenance work experience Previous people leadership experience, preferred High school diploma plus trades training and certification Ability to lead a team of individuals Strong adherence to processes and practices relating to facility operations and maintenance Ability to maintain and repair building mechanical and electrical equipment and systems Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills for building systems Current knowledge of fire, life safety and building codes and standards and ability to apply related codes and standards High level of environmental, health and safety mindset; ability to perform work safely Strong client-service orientation with a sense of urgency Effective communication skills for data relay, feedback, and clarification Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation One or more of the following would be an asset: Journeyman level Refrigeration license Journeyman level Electrical license Journeyman level Plumbing license Power Engineering 3rd Class or 4th Class Building Operator Certification Gasfitter I or II Systems Maintenance Administration Certification At BGIS we believe that diversity and inclusion is a key business driver and we strive for barrier-free recruitment with equal employment opportunities.
