Work That Matters, People Who Care Job Description WHATS THE JOB? Based at a world-class Horizon North camp facility, this position involves a rotation of 20 days on and 10 days off, with 11-12-hour shifts. Transportation to the site is provided from a designated pickup point. RESPONSIBILITIES: Prepare, present, design, and serve high-quality rotational menus. Supervise kitchen staff, ensuring productivity and compliance with Horizon North policies, including health, safety, and quality standards. Lead training, development, and mentoring of employees. Ensure food safety using FOODSAFE and HACCP standards, following Horizon North safety guidelines. Manage resources effectively and efficiently. Serve clients and staff professionally and courteously. Plan meals considering dietary restrictions, allergies, vegan, and vegetarian needs. Conduct bi-weekly inventory checks. Support all kitchen roles to ensure timely meal service and cleanliness standards. Perform other duties as assigned. WHATS IN IT FOR YOU? Excellent work-life balance with a 20/10 rotational schedule. Follow Horizon North on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. QUALIFICATIONS: Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate required. SafeCheck advanced food safety or HACCP certification. Minimum 10 years experience in hospitality/food service. Extensive experience as a Chef in hotels, resorts, restaurants, or remote lodges, with knowledge of international and domestic cuisines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and GFS. Strong knowledge of menu costing, recipe implementation, and wage control. Comprehensive skills across kitchen areas including hot, cold, pastry, butchery, and banquets. Effective leadership, positive personality, and good listening skills.
