In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health and in accordance with the standards of professional practice, performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures/examinations and related duties working in collaboration with radiologists/cardiologists, physicians, and other health care professionals. St. Johns Hospital is a 24 acute-care bed facility. The Hospital serves the communities of Vanderhoof and the Saikuz First Nation, as well asacting as a referral centre for the surrounding communities of Burns Lake, Fort St. James and Fraser Lake. The Services Of St John Hospital Include 24/7 Emergency department 2 outpatient bays Dietician Palliative Care Oncology Clinic Labour and delivery with Caesarean Section capabilities. Diagnostic Imaging, including Ultrasound and Fluoroscopy Lab including blood transfusion services 24/7 OR offering Orthopedic Day Surgery, Plastics, Dental, ENT, Endoscopy, and General Surgery Inpatient Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Teaching facility for the University of Northern British Columbia Vanderhoof has a population of 4,500 (2021). Nestled in the fertile Nechako Valley, on the banks of the Nechako River, rural Vanderhoof is the geographical centre of the province of British Columbia.
