Overview Intermediate Electrical Distribution Engineer Candidate Pool. Location: Vancouver, BC area; based out of Vancouver offices. Our Energy & Resources team is a key player in the energy transition, with more than 700 professionals. We support clients from feasibility studies to commissioning, delivering innovative solutions for electric utility distribution systems up to 35kV. This is a candidate pool; the process may vary and is open-ended. The Talent Acquisition team will review each application and contact you at the appropriate time, if applicable. Responsibilities Support the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team from response to service requests to project delivery Develop design work packages with scope, schedule and effort estimates Assist with the resolution of design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis, exercising independent judgment in selecting and interpreting information, and recommending safe engineering designs to support successful operations and/or project completion Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services, establishing basic design criteria with the client, approving technical documentation, and assessing and reporting on work progress against standards, objectives, and specifications to support completion of projects safely, with quality, within budget and on time Provide specialized expertise in Distribution, set high standards for work performance, and influence the establishment of standards, frameworks, and targets for junior team members Promote innovation to propose modifications that improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures and standards where possible Design overhead and underground facilities for voltages up to 35kV in an electric utility environment (line rebuilds, structure replacements, cable replacements, voltage conversions, manhole/vault replacements, duct banks, etc.) Attend site visits as required for project data and design confirmation, troubleshooting, construction support and quality assurance inspections Qualifications 7+ years experience in an engineering role with distribution knowledge, ideally within British Columbia P.Eng designation or eligible to become a P.Eng with EGBC Experience working with utilities in Western Canada Experience in overhead and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages up to 35kV; strong communication skills to articulate technical options and present solutions to varied audiences Familiarity with GIS, CAD systems and drawing standards Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLS-CADD Ability to work with remote partners and team members; maintain effective client, staff, and colleague relationships Available for occasional travel (mostly within Western Canada) The expected salary for this position is based on the richness and diversity of the candidates experience, training, and skills.
