Withdrawal Management Services Support Worker (Part-Time) POSITION : Withdrawal Management Services Support Worker REPORT TO : Manager, Withdrawal Management Services DEPARTMENT : Withdrawal Management Services LOCATION : 75 Martha FTE : 0.4 FTE, Permanent WAGE : $20.48 - $23.05 HOURS OF WORK : Days (07:30 to 16:00); Evenings (15:30 to 24:00); Nights (23:30 to 08:00) Overview Main Street Project (MSP) is a community health centre with a mandate to address the social determinants of health which give rise to issues of addiction, physical and mental health issues and homelessness. MSP uses housing-first and harm reduction principles in the provision of a safe, respectful and accessible place for individuals who are experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Since 1972, MSP has provided a range of services to Winnipegs most marginalized residents, including emergency shelter and nutrition services, drug and alcohol withdrawal management services, health advocacy and support, case management services, housing support services, a food bank, and a mobile community outreach program. Job Summary Main Street Project provides Withdrawal Management Services at two locations: 75 Martha and 146 Magnus Avenue. The primary purpose is to help participants begin their recovery journey through detox stabilization, support access to long-term treatment programs, and advocate for external recovery needs while expanding resource capacity. Both sites provide 24-hour support in a safe and stable environment at no cost to the participant. Prior to admission, all participants must receive a medical clearance which outlines how MSP staff can support a participants time in the unit. Staff conduct regular check-ins with clients regarding plans and well-being and assist with the creation of individualized detox care plans to support recovery goals. In accordance with MSPs mission, goals, policies and procedures, the Withdrawal Management Support Worker functions as a member of a team providing services with respect, dignity, and the participants goals in mind. Duties And Responsibilities Engage in intake coordination and review for incoming participants of MSP Withdrawal Management Program Oversee intake into Withdrawal Management services including review of medical clearance forms, completion of intake assessment forms, and medication confirmation and review Medication administration, tracking, and monitoring Collaborate in medical health scenarios with MSP Nurse Practitioner and internal WFPS resources Build relationships through one-on-one check-ins and documentation related to each participant Support implementation of programming within the unit Advocation and referral assistance for participants to internal MSP Case Management and external services based on goals Assist participants in planning, problem-solving, and addressing immediate needs, including meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies Provide support and resources without judgment Respond to emergency situations; assess, intervene, and document critical incidents and request assistance when needed Ensure participants are informed of internal and external resources as needed Ensure care provided meets professional standards Work collaboratively with external partners Maintain accurate and confidential electronic and paper file records Collect and submit agency-required statistics on time and with accuracy Maintain cleanliness of the program area according to routine schedules Qualifications Relevant experience in human services, preferably with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health and substance use issues Post-secondary education in addictions and mental health is an asset Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners Compassion for working with individuals who use substances and experience mental health issues Client-centered care philosophy Apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in day-to-day support Knowledge of the effects of poverty and health determinants Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team Knowledge of Indigenous culture Lived experience relevant to the role Knowledge and ability to apply Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, MMIWG Calls to Justice, and UNDRIP Excellent interpersonal and written/oral communication skills Experience with culturally diverse populations Proficiency in Microsoft Office & online databases Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required; employee responsible for charges Current CPR, Basic First Aid, and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) certifications Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification is an asset Conditions Of Employment Physical demands: standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, cleaning duties Exposure to biohazards including blood, bodily fluids, and syringes Ability to work with individuals who use substances and/or experience mental health issues Ability to respond to high intensity incidents including medical emergencies and aggressive individuals Comfortable with Indigenous ceremonies and practices (e.g., Smudging) Providing first aid as required Criminal Record Check with Clear Vulnerable Sector Search and Clear Adult Abuse Registry Check required Ability to embody MSP core values: Reducing Harm, Truth & Reconciliation, Anti-Oppression, Trauma-Informed Values & Competencies Core values: Reducing Harm, Truth & Reconciliation, Anti-Oppression, Trauma-Informed Key competencies: Crisis Management; Service Excellence Meeting people where they are; Collaboration and External Relationships; Accountability; Decision Making Benefits Competitive wages within the nonprofit sector Health & Dental Benefits Pension Plan Professional Development Opportunities Paid Sick and Family Days Shift Premiums Employee Assistance Program Application deadline: Open until filled Preference will be given to Indigenous people and those who reflect the people/population MSP serves.
