Job Description

Job Overview The Ontario Institute of Health and Innovation (OIHI) is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) Instructor to deliver high-quality instruction to students enrolled in the Early Childhood Assistant (ECA) programs. The role involves planning and implementing course content, guiding students through their theoretical and practical learning experiences, and preparing them for careers in early childhood care. The successful candidate will create an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that fosters student development and aligns with program goals and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons for ECE/ECA students based on program curriculum and industry standards. Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles. Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experiences to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding of child development, early learning, and care. Student Assessment and Support Evaluate and assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, practical evaluations, and participation. Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and professional readiness. Identify students needing additional support and provide one-on-one guidance or refer them to appropriate resources. Practical Training Support students in developing their practical skills through hands-on activities, simulations, and practice sessions. Prepare students for placements in childcare centers, ensuring they understand the expectations, safety protocols, and professional conduct required in the field. Mentor students during their placements, conducting site visits and communicating with placement supervisors as needed. Qualifications A diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or a related field. Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE) is required. Good standing with CECE is required. Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in early childhood education, child care, or a related teaching role. Strong knowledge of child development, early learning frameworks, and regulatory requirements in the early childhood education sector. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in using technology and digital tools for teaching and communication. Current First Aid and CPR certification.
