Topics include the interaction of human capital with growth and inequality, teacher incentives and teacher quality, early childhood education, and the racial achievement gap. We will discuss tools economists use to measure causal effects of policies and consider how statistics in policy debates may be biased. After this course, students should be comfortable reading research papers in economics. [24L] Estimated Enrolment: 32 Estimated Teaching Assistant Support: 30 hours (per section) Position Description All normal duties related to the design, administration and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; supervision of teaching assistants; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and examinations, including make-up tests; calculation and submission of grades to university officials; holding regular student office hours and maintaining reasonable availability for student contact. Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching and mastery of subject area Previous experience in teaching this, or related course, at university level Demonstrated Excellence in delivering online courses in a remote setting.
