Madrona Imaging is a group of 10 full-time radiologists and 6 part-time radiologists providing Radiology and Nuclear Medicine services to the Central Vancouver Island region. Our public facilities include Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH), West Coast General Hospital, Tofino General Hospital, and Oceanside Health Center. Madrona Imaging also owns and operates a community imaging centre in Nanaimo. NRGH is the tertiary referral centre for Central Vancouver Island with a population of 450,000 people. The hospital has undergone multiple renovations in the recent past with the addition of a new Intensive Care Unit and High Acuity Care Unit. Construction will begin shortly on a new BC Cancer Agency facility on the hospital grounds, which will include a PET/CT scanner. Scope of Practice: Our practice includes interpretation of radiography, ultrasound, diagnostic mammography, nuclear medicine, CT, and MRI. Candidates should also be comfortable with basic nonvascular ultrasound, fluoroscopic, and CT-guided procedures. Ability to perform screening mammography is highly recommended. Fellowship training is encouraged. Qualifications: FRCPC Certification in Diagnostic Radiology Full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC FRCPC Certification in Nuclear Medicine, while not required, would be a valuable asset Work Expectations: The radiologists in the group work between 36 and 44 weeks per year. The number of weeks of holidays taken are flexible. After-hours call coverage every 1 in 10 weeks. When staffing permits, we try to work 3.5 to 4 days per week.
