Modelling & Simulation Engineer - NETE Weir Canada, Inc. Halifax NS, Canada Permanent Full-time, Onsite work Purpose of Role: Conduct Modelling and Simulation (M&S), Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) and Integration activities for the River Class Destroyer (RCD) project. Weir Marine Engineering supports the RCD Project Management Office (PMO) within the Department of National Defence (DND) Office at the Bluenose building in Dartmouth, NS. The M&S Engineer will also conduct M&S and IV&V activities in support of the RCD Land Based Test Capability (LBTC) Test Program, primarily at the Land Based Test Facility (LBTF) in Hartlen Point, NS. The M&S Engineer may have the opportunity to support other project activities as required by project demands, including Synthetic Environment Support, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Integrated Test & Evaluation (IT&E) activities. This is a full-time, permanent position with a requirement for regular work both in-office and onboard RCN ships. Learn more about us: Learn more about Weir Marine Engineering at: Responsibilities: Modelling & Simulation (M&S): Conduct performance and behaviour M&S of naval equipment and threats; develop environmental models and large-scale scenarios; integrate equipment models into a synthetic ship; and follow configuration and data management practices. Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V): Analyze equipment performance using M&S and live test & trial data. Synthetic Environment Support: Develop software requirements and perform software testing; V&V and accreditation of the synthetic environment and its associated M&S and analysis tools. Technical Documentation: Document and present technical data for stakeholder review; articulate and present detailed technical arguments, when necessary, in a manner that is clear, logical, and simple. Analysis and reporting: Develop and document code used for analysis and V&V; analyze M&S results. Support to client: Maintain positive, friendly, and collaborative relationships with team members, as well as internal and external stakeholders; liaise with subject matter experts, DND customers, and suppliers. Job Knowledge/Education and Qualifications: Mandatory: Must obtain a Government of Canada security clearance, which necessitates Canadian citizenship and a minimum of 10 years of continuous residence in Canada. Mandatory: Bachelors degree in Engineering or Computer Science. Desirable: Experience in the defence industry or working with Naval systems. Mandatory: Skilled in reading, writing, and speaking English, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels (both in-person and electronically) with peers, supervisors, and clients. Capable of drafting reports, technical correspondence, and procedure manuals. Desirable: Knowledge in simulation, stimulation, war gaming tools; Experience with data analysis of large datasets and statistical analysis; Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle. Desirable: Programming experience, especially in MATLAB, Python or C++; Experience with databases and SQL; Experience using Version Control Software (Perforce, Git).
