Job Description

Scientist Process Development Edmonton, Alberta Job Responsibilities : Responsible for developing chemical processes for the manufacturing of drug substances. Demonstrates technical knowledge, scientific creativity, and collaboration skills in research for the preparation of novel chemical substances. Plans, executes, and analyzes laboratory experiments to understand production and quality attributes of drug substances. Proposes alternative chemistry, including new route selection and step optimization. Provides regular updates to supervision and suggests future research directions. Collaborates with senior scientists to develop project strategies for manufacturing drug substances to support clinical studies and commercialization. May manage project team members and research assignments, including designing and interpreting experiments. Prepares and reviews technical documents such as research reports, process development reports, and manufacturing documentation like Master Batch Records (MBRs). Collaborates across functions including analytical chemistry, quality assurance, and manufacturing to meet project goals. Provides technical support for manufacturing processes under cGMP in laboratory and large-scale operations. Ensures experiments comply with SOPs, maintaining quality, safety, and environmental standards. Basic Qualifications : PhD in Organic Chemistry (or related discipline). MSc in Organic Chemistry with 4+ years of industry experience. BSc in Organic Chemistry with 6+ years of industry experience. Preferred Qualifications : PhD in Organic Chemistry (or related discipline). Experience in planning and executing multi-step synthesis of organic molecules. Experience scaling up synthetic routes and developing safe processes. Familiarity with purification and analytical techniques, including HPLC, LCMS, and NMR. Strong desire to work in multidisciplinary teams, learn new skills, and solve problems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal collaboration skills. Ability to think critically and creatively, work independently, and determine appropriate resources for problem resolution. Strong organizational and planning skills.
