Job Summary: Watson Marlow, a global leader in fluid management technologies, seeks an experienced Electronics Design Manager to lead our New Product Innovation (NPI) Engineering team. This role involves shaping the future of our products by leading the design and development of advanced electronic solutions for pumping applications, focusing on reliability, efficiency, and performance. The successful candidate will foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and technical excellence across multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing electronics design team, providing guidance and mentorship. Set objectives, manage performance, and conduct appraisals to promote continuous improvement. Recruit, onboard, and retain top engineering talent aligned with Watson Marlows growth and values. Project Management: Plan and execute electronics design projects from concept to production, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Collaborate with mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers for seamless integration. Manage risk, verify designs, and maintain thorough documentation throughout project lifecycles. Technical Excellence: Stay updated on emerging trends in electronics, sensors, embedded systems, and standards relevant to fluid management. Establish best practices in circuit design, PCB layout, firmware, and hardware-software integration. Review designs and prototypes for compliance with standards such as EMC, safety, and environmental regulations. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Act as the main contact for electronics design within the business, communicating progress and risks. Work with product management, sales, and support teams to translate market and customer feedback into designs. Participate in customer visits and technical demonstrations to ensure product excellence. Continuous Improvement & Quality: Promote quality, reliability, and continuous improvement culture. Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for failures. Advocate for modern design methodologies like DFM, DFT, and prototyping techniques. Budgeting & Resource Allocation: Manage budgets for electronics design, optimizing resource allocation. Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities. Skills/Experience: Education: Bachelors degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering; Masters or PhD is a plus. Experience: At least 7 years in electronics design, with 3+ years in leadership within high-tech or regulated industries such as automation or fluid management. Technical Skills: Expertise in analog/digital circuits, PCB layout, embedded firmware (C/C++, VHDL/Verilog). Proficiency with CAD tools (Altium, OrCAD, Eagle) and simulation software. Knowledge of EMC, safety standards (CE, UL), and certification processes. Understanding of sensors, signal processing, power electronics, and system integration. Desirable: IoT, wireless protocols, cybersecurity for embedded systems. Project Management: Experience managing complex projects on time and budget. People Management: Ability to inspire and develop engineering teams. Communication: Excellent interpersonal and technical communication skills. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
