You will be mentored by seasoned lighting professionals to develop lighting layouts and plans, fixture selection, and client coordination. This position requires creativity and curiosity, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure effective integration of lighting design within architectural and interior frameworks. What Youll Do Develop various lighting concepts, including hand sketches, for a variety of building types, such as museums, parks, commercial buildings, post secondary institutions. Actively participate in project meetings with internal/external stakeholders and be a part of the decision-making process, providing your expertise and recommendations. Learn to produce lighting reflected ceiling plans, light fixture schedules and specification schedules. Learn to develop mounting/aiming details for coordination with the architecture and/or interior design. Learn to prepare calculations including light levels and energy usage. Develop and deliver presentations that illustrate lighting concepts to clients, ensuring an artistic and visually engaging representation of the project. Synchronize light fixtures with lighting controls by establishing a structured sequence, clearly defining the initial, intermediate, and final stages of operation. Review and manage specifications and shop drawings from engineers and clients, offering recommendations, along with on-site review and measurement mock-ups for clients and the design team. Stay informed about the newest trends in lighting technology and keep track of industry updates Who You Are Have a strong interest in lighting design, demonstrating a curious, artistic and inquisitive mindset Post-secondary education in Architecture. 0-1 year of relevant industry experience. Experience is an asset but not required. Ability to read and understand architectural drawings. Proficient with CAD, Rhino, REVIT, Adobe PowerPoint, Photoshop and Office Suite a strong asset. Strong verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently with little supervision, as well as part of a team. Highly organized and able to prioritize own work schedule to meet tight deadlines, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
