The Town is seeking a Manager to lead the Programs and Community Development business units within the Recreation department. What we promise Flexible work environment, including the ability to work from home up to two days per week Employer paid health and dental benefit packages Free gym membership at Town recreation centres Responsibilities Lead and manage staff to deliver programs and services in alignment with the Towns Recreation Master Plan, including planning, and management of material, financial and human resources Manage assigned staff: recruitment, training & development, performance management, discipline, scheduling, payroll approval, overtime, and recommendations regarding promotions or terminations Provide leadership through change management, mentoring, coaching, and a culture of continuous improvement and ethical decision-making Support affiliated community organizations to enhance capacity and service quality Resolve conflicts with internal and external stakeholders; respond to inquiries and escalate as required Act as Town representative and liaise with government agencies and external partners Manage Branch budget, financial planning, and monitoring; establish and improve business processes to enhance efficiency Contribute to annual business plans, minor capital and operating budgets; monitor revenue and expenditure against targets Set annual and seasonal Branch objectives aligned with corporate plans Qualifications Formal education in Recreation Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Class G Drivers license in good standing Police vulnerable sector check satisfactory to the Town 5-7 years of relevant experience in Recreation Services 3 years of supervisory/management experience in Recreation Services Strong supervisory, leadership and team-building skills Excellent verbal and written communication Ability to manage human and financial resources to meet community needs Experience with business plans and community development initiatives Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and balance multiple responsibilities Conflict management, problem-solving, and analytical abilities Knowledge of recreation programming, aquatics and event management; partnerships, pricing, PR and promotion Knowledge of community development and networking to build partnerships Experience in event planning and delivery across diverse media Ability to present objectives and budgets to staff, Council and community groups Ability to develop policies and procedures aligned with strategic plans Working knowledge of software systems for facility booking, memberships, program registration Proficiency in MS Office and related administration tools Knowledge of applicable legislation and ability to interpret bylaws Must meet the definition of Competent under the Occupational Health and Safety Act Application To apply, please submit a cover letter, resume and copies of required credentials by October 20, 2025.
