Job Summary Reporting to the Design Services Manager, responsibilities include supporting the technical direction for projects, interfacing with external and internal customers including the Instrumentation and Controls Engineering department, and participating in the development and drafting of designs for automated and semi-automated equipment. The Design Services department uses AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, IntEC and Inventor to create concept drawings, detailed designs, intermediate drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and can provide design replacement solutions for obsolete components such as relays, motors and circuit cards. Responsibilities Develop concept designs into detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub-assemblies or product using CAD packages including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and Autodesk Inventor. Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering environment with teams of Professional Engineers and Technologists. Produce and update general assembly drawings, interconnection block diagrams, functional block diagrams, cable assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, wiring lists, and bills of materials. Selection of instrumentation, control, and power components based on engineering requirements. Participate in design reviews and occasional customer review meetings, providing resource information and design input. Liaise with customer design and operations personnel to gather site-specific design information. Assist others on specific projects. Accountable for cost and schedule on assigned projects. Required Qualifications Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology diploma. AutoCAD experience; AutoCAD Electrical and Inventor experience an asset. Excellent written and verbal English communication skills understandable by a diverse audience. Ability to work effectively with others and multitask with minimal supervision. Competence in basic drafting techniques and control system design and design processes. Creative problem-solving skills, strong analytical abilities, demonstrated leadership, and ability to work in a project team. Intec or online wiring experience is an asset; 3D parametric modeling experience is an asset. Understanding of a broad range of interdisciplinary departments: mechanical, software design, systems engineering and manufacturing. Minimum of 5 years related experience in electrical design with previous electrical and controls drafting experience. Experience in the CANDU Nuclear Industry. Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) or higher; membership in OACETT or another certifying organization. Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills. General understanding of Engineering Change Control (ECC) concepts for nuclear or other industries. Creative and innovative thinking; ability to work well in a team.
