Job Description

Your Opportunity As a part of our Western Canada Irrigation team, this role involves work on the Westside Irrigation Rehabilitation Project (WIRP) in Saskatchewan. Stantec (as part of Prairie Engineering Partners) will be responsible for completing fieldwork, planning and engineering to the next stage of project design. The right candidate will have technical skills and experience applicable to the delivery of water conveyance projects related to irrigation and irrigation planning for government, municipal, and private sector clients. Projects may include greenfield infrastructure, expansions/upgrades to existing systems, and rehabilitation. The Western Canada Irrigation Leader will lead and undertake engineering studies, design and document preparation, and related fieldwork or investigations as required. Your Key Responsibilities Overseeing the preparation of engineering reports, drawings, and specifications related to irrigation planning, design, and other water resources and conveyance projects. Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary project teams, clients or other consultants. Coordinating and attending field work or field investigations as required. Lead client management, business development and proposal preparation. Assisting in recruiting and developing the irrigation specialization across the water team. Mentoring, training and/or supervision of intermediate or junior engineers. Attending in-house and formal training sessions to ensure continuing professional development. Adhering to Stantecs Environmental Health and Safety protocols and processes. Occasional travel within Alberta and western Canada. Capabilities and Credentials Proven irrigation system planning and design experience. Experience in related water conveyance or agriculture/agri-food projects is an asset. Understanding of all phases of project implementation and engineering design processes. Understanding of soil water relationships. Experienced with hydraulic analysis/modeling. Excellent communication, written, and presentation skills. Collaborative in nature with the ability to work effectively with multi-disciplinary teams. Self-motivated and results-oriented with the ability to motivate and lead others. Experience with Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project is an asset. Experience with design software such as AutoCAD Civil3D is an asset. Experience with hydraulic/hydrologic modeling software (MikeUrban, PCSWMM, StormCAD, WaterCAD, XPSWMM, etc.) is an asset. Valid Class 5 Drivers License. Education and Experience Minimum of 8 years of experience on water resources or conveyance projects, with emphasis on irrigation planning and design. Bachelors degree in Civil or Agricultural Engineering or equivalent is required. Registration as a P.Eng with APEGA (Alberta) and/or APEGS (Saskatchewan). Additional Information Pay Transparency: Pay ranges are provided where required by law; final compensation depends on education, qualifications, experience, and location. Some roles may be bonus eligible.
