Your Opportunity Stantecs Power team in western Canada is offering opportunities for Electrical Engineers to work on a variety of HV/EHV AC and DC substation projects throughout North America. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop efficient and reliable substations for our clients. You will coordinate planning and design activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion. Your Key Responsibilities Perform engineering studies such as power flow, short circuit, grounding, lightning protection, insulation coordination, TRV, cable ampacity, rigid and flexible bus, lighting, etc. Conduct detailed design of substations, including switchyard layouts, grounding plans/details, cable routing, AC/DC distribution, major equipment specifications, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, marking, and design calculations. Prepare technical specifications for major equipment, construction, and testing & commissioning. Provide technical support for procurement, construction and commissioning. Assist in preparing proposals, project plans and estimates. Mentor and support junior engineers. Coordinate with other disciplines during project execution to solve technical issues. Follow internal QA/QC procedures to deliver high quality engineering service to clients. Conduct site visits to verify existing installations, define project scope, prepare for detailed design, and provide construction site support as required. Drafting work may be required to complete deliverables. Your Capabilities and Credentials Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (specialization in Power Systems). Experience with PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, CDEGS, WinIGS, MathCAD is an asset. Field experience in commissioning and testing is an asset. Knowledge in Civil/Structural and P&C is an asset. Equipment engineering experience is an asset. Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation. Effective interpersonal skills (written and verbal) to interact with multi-disciplinary teams, suppliers, sub-consultants and clients. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Valid drivers license. Education and Experience Minimum 6 years of proven direct detailed design and engineering experience related to high voltage substations for utilities in North America.
