Airswift is looking for: Piping Engineer Schedule : Monday to Friday Duration : 1-year contract Role Description Purpose: Reporting to the lead, static equipment engineering the piping engineer provides piping engineering support to Albian Value Streams under the frame of the Plant Engineering Management and the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System PEIMS. Experience, Qualification and Skills Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Materials, or a related discipline , with 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience in piping systems design within oil & gas, refining, petrochemical, mining, or energy facilities P.Eng designation or eligibility for registration in Alberta Familiarity with heavy oil mining operations considered an asset Strong knowledge of applicable piping standards and codes (ASME, ANSI, API, ISO, CSA Z662, etc.) Proficient in the Safety Codes Act and ABSA regulations related to piping systems Advanced experience using piping stress analysis software (e.g., CAESAR II, AutoPipe, or equivalent) for aboveground and underground applications Skilled in selecting valves and fittings for piping systems based on service requirements Proficient with 2D/3D drafting software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, or SolidWorks Proficient with 3D model review software such as Smart Plant Review or Navisworks Working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) using commercial software such as ANSYS, ABAQUS, Nastran and/or FE/PIPE with NozzlePRO Good knowledge of bolted flange joint (BFJ) integrity analysis and torque calculation software Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to collaborate effectively with vendors, contractors, and company's counterparts Solid organizational and time management skills Highly motivated with a strong commitment to continuous professional development Capable of / eligible for occasional travel to operating oil sands plant in Fort McMurray area Proficient in MS Office Suite; experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) such as Maximo or SAP PM is an asset Accountabilities The Piping Engineer is responsible for providing mechanical piping design and engineering support to ensure safe, reliable, and sustainable operations. Key accountabilities include: Delivering piping design support for modifications and projects under Operations, Maintenance, and Sustaining Capital budgets to mitigate risks to availability and long-term reliability Developing Construction Work Packages (CWPs) within the static equipment engineering discipline Supporting maintenance and construction teams with piping system design, including selection of piping classes, review/development of layouts, isometrics, fabrication drawings, pipe stress analysis, pipe supports, and valve/fitting selection Calculating torque values for bolted piping connections to ensure joint integrity and leak-free operation Ensuring compliance of piping designs with applicable specifications, standards, regulations, and the company's Albian Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIM) Reviewing, evaluating, and approving changes to piping systems through the Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Work Order (EngWO) processes Providing timely technical support to planning, contracting, and procurement, including responding to RFIs, reviewing bids, conducting technical evaluations, and assessing vendor recommendations and deviations Reviewing and approving piping engineering packages developed by third-party engineering firms for Sustaining Capital projects Conducting mechanical assessments and evaluations of piping system designs and modifications to ensure conformance with codes, regulations, best practices, and PEIM requirements Conducting site walk downs and visual inspections Supporting fitness-for-service evaluations and remaining life assessments of piping systems in collaboration with Asset Integrity Asset Integrity Contributing to Root Cause Analyses (RCA) of piping system failures, and providing recommendations to prevent recurrence from a mechanical design perspective Providing customer-focused engineering support to Operations and Maintenance within the Value Streams, in alignment with Canadian Natural Albian Sands (CNAS) safety, compliance, reliability, and production objectives Demonstrating HSSE leadership and ensuring compliance with company health, safety, security, and environmental standards Dimensions The Piping Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the safe and reliable design and operation of static equipment across the Jackpine and Muskeg River Mines Value Streams, including associated utilities and pipeline facilities. This role directly impacts production availability by ensuring effective engineering design, asset integrity, and mechanical reliability.
