This role blends advanced analytics with hands-on data preparation, reporting, and automation responsibilities. The Senior Data Analyst will lead the design of dashboards and reporting workflows, ensure data quality, and drive insights for internal and client-facing initiatives. As a team leader, this role will mentor Data Analyst(s) and help build a high-performing analytics function. Your role Team Leadership & Collaboration Provide guidance, mentorship, and oversight to Data Analysts and future team members. Manage workloads, review outputs, and ensure deliverables meet high-quality standards. Partner with internal stakeholders and clients to translate business needs into actionable solutions. Foster a collaborative, learning-oriented team environment. Data Sourcing & Preparation Gather, clean, and transform data from multiple systems. Structure datasets and create intermediate models for reporting and analysis. Implement validation, reconciliation, and quality control processes. Analytics & Insights Build advanced Power BI dashboards, reports, and models with strong storytelling and visualization practices. Develop and maintain KPIs and performance metrics to track business outcomes and team impact. Conduct deep-dive analysis into financial, operational, and client datasets. Translate business requirements into actionable analytics solutions. Data Workflows & Integrations Build and maintain repeatable workflows for ingesting, transforming, and refreshing data. Automate refresh schedules, monitor workflows, and troubleshoot issues. Work with APIs, JSON, and flat-file sources to integrate external data. Optimize queries and processes for performance and scalability. Document data flows, lineage, and transformation logic. Apply governance and security practices in daily data handling. Innovation, AI & Automation Explore opportunities to apply AI, automation, and advanced analytics to improve workflows and insights. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify high-impact use cases for AI and automation. Support experimentation with predictive analytics and intelligent automation initiatives. Stay current with emerging tools and recommend relevant use cases. Stakeholder Engagement Lead meetings with internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and align deliverables. Facilitate and present in workshops, demos, and webinars to showcase solutions. Manage and prioritize analytics backlogs, ensuring alignment with business priorities. What you bring to the table Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or related field. 6+ years of experience in data analysis or business intelligence, including 2+ years of people management with direct reports. Experience mentoring and developing junior analysts. Experience leading stakeholder-facing sessions (requirements meetings, workshops, demos). Accounting industry experience is considered an asset. Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies is a plus. Technical Skills Strong SQL expertise in querying and modeling data. Advanced Power BI skills (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, visualization best practices). Experience integrating data from APIs, JSON, CSV, and flat files. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, Snowflake, or Databricks. Exposure to Python or R for analytics and automation. Experience with version control and collaborative development practices is a plus. Professional certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Power BI Specialist) are advantageous. Professional Skills Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities to engage both technical and business stakeholders. Organized, detail-oriented, with experience managing backlog lists and prioritizing work. Ability to manage ambiguity and drive clarity in complex data environments. Curious, adaptable, and motivated to learn and deliver high-quality solutions.
